What I mean by this is, the employer is not just "sizing you up" to see if you are a good fit for the job, it is also an opportunity for you to "size the employer up" to see if it is a good fit for you! The Future is Today: The SKYPE Interview
In order to save costs and reduce greenhouse gas (not driving a vehicle to the interview location) is many employers are now using Skype or similar video conferencing technology to conduct interviews. Many people welcome is modern convenience but for those who are unfamiliar and not so comfortable in front of the camera this could seem like a daunting experience. One of the best ways to become comfortable and familiar is to practice. Many people have smart phones, a laptop computer or some device that would allow them to transmit their image either live or recorded - practice is essential in building these skills. Many employers will hold multiple interviews and the Skype interview maybe only the first in a series of two or three interviews. Make sure your self presentation is consistent for any type of interview.
